Mission Statement Our objective at jw lawson FINE ART is to provide what Dave Hickey described as a "clean well lighted space" for emerging and established artists interested in exhibiting new and refreshing artwork. Our space is geared toward very distinct and deliberate solo exhibitions. Often times we prefer to show work that could be better seen as new work or bodies of work that are a touch different than what the exhibiting artists are known for. We have one group show every year known as the PHOTO INVITATIONAL. This is an exhibition created and curated by the director to celebrate each anniversary for the gallery. The invitations go to photographers who work in seperate cities or styles whose work can mesh when exhibited side by side. It is a selfish way for the director to see work by some of his favorite photographers as well as a way to ceate a community of photographers and photography lovers that may not meet otherwise. jw lawson FINE ART is dedicated to giving something to the Milwaukee art community by providing a place for artists, collectors and anyone interested in the creative process to see and show artwork. We believe fully that by opening a dialog between artists and those interested we can begin to build a much stronger and more interesting art community. |
